Celebrating Earth Day

On the 16th April, Te Waipuna Puawai held a Team Development Day in recognition of Earth Day which included a number of activities focused in the wetland being restored at our Ellerslie Centre.

Staff and volunteers took part, planting a number of native plants.

As well as the plaque a seat was installed to allow people to sit, reflect and enjoy the wetlands.

The focus for this Team Development day is part of a wider initiative of Te Waipuna Puawai to increase awareness of the need to care for our environment and what can be done to protect, reconnect with and restore Mother Earth.

The focus has been on sustainable living, consumables and their recyclability as well as awareness of carbon footprints.

The teams reviewed the Sisters of Mercy sustainability guidelines - "Atawhai Mo Te Ao" and put together Action Plans of what they can do to make a difference individually and collectively.
