New charity store opened

On Tuesday 20th April the new CHANGES retail charity store was Blessed prior to its Grand Opening to the public on the 27th April.

The Blessing was attended by around 30 people including staff and volunteers, representatives from a number of Mercy ministries, Funders, Trades people who had worked on the store, supporters and members of the community.

CHANGES will stock a range of quality second hand clothing, footwear, books, CDs and homeware as well as new jewelry, cards, journals and other items crafted by women as part of the TWP programmes.

For Te Waipuna Puawai Manager, Puamiria Maaka, the Blessing was a milestone for the organisation and our first serious step towards self-sustainability.

“It was really exciting to launch the new venture and to feel that we are taking charge of the future of our organisation” says Puamiria. “Many of those who attended couldn’t believe it was a charity store given the quality of what was for sale.”

People wishing to support Te Waipuna Puawai can do so in two ways, they can visit CHANGES store to purchase the goods for sale or they can donate items to be sold in CHANGES.

CHANGES is located at Unit 42B, 277 Te Irirangi Drive, Botany Junction.

If you would like to find out more about CHANGES please contact Retail Manager, Mandy Lewis, on 250 1709 or email mandy@changes.org.nz.
