I am a Kaiwhiriwhiri Whānau at Te Waipuna Puawai, based at our Rānui office. This is a new role within TWP, and it's exciting to be part of the growth and development of this kaupapa as we continue supporting whānau across West Auckland.
Kanohi ki te kanohi time with whānau is what I enjoy most about the mahi. It is a privilege to hear their stories and walk alongside them as they navigate challenges, and work towards their aspirations. Every whānau journey is different, and I'm grateful to be trusted to be part of that journey.
One thing I've really enjoyed since joining TWP is seeing the contribution our volunteers make every day. They are often the unseen hands helping things run smoothly, and their support allows us to focus on working directly alongside whānau.
To me, community means connection and looking out for one another. People coming together, sharing knowledge and support. Strong communities are built through relationships and a willingness to walk alongside each other.
I hope whānau feel heard when they walk through our doors. I hope they know that their stories matter, that they are valued, and that they don't have to navigate things on their own. Sometimes having someone walk alongside you can make all the difference.
