Ko Roiroi Boyd ahau. I am a Whānau Ora Kaiwhiriwhiri at Te Waipuna Puawai, supporting whānau across Rānui and the surrounding West Auckland communities. I work alongside whānau as they identify their goals, navigate challenges, and connect with opportunities that support their wellbeing and aspirations.
I love seeing the small wins that eventually lead to the bigger goals. Sometimes it might be attending an appointment, enrolling in a programme, improving a home environment, or simply taking that first step towards asking for support. The people is what I enjoy the most about my mahi.
Those moments may seem small to others, but they can mean everything to whānau. Watching people grow in confidence and recognising their own strengths is one of the most rewarding parts of my mahi.
People will see the workshops, referrals, or support services, but a big part of my mahi is building trust. That trust is built through conversations, home visits, phone calls, text messages, and simply showing up consistently. Often whānau share deeply personal experiences, and it is a privilege to be trusted with those stories. Every whānau journey is different, and a lot of the work happens quietly behind the scenes as we walk alongside them.
To me, community means relationships. It is people supporting one another, sharing knowledge, creating opportunities, and celebrating success together. Community is strongest when people feel connected, valued, and able to contribute in their own way.
Community is about working collectively so that no whānau feels like they have to face challenges alone.
I hope whānau feel supported when they connect with TWP. I want whānau to know they do not have to walk their journey alone. We are here to walk alongside them, celebrate their successes, and help connect them to the opportunities and support they need to thrive.
